WHEREAS, Women On 20s calls upon President Barack Obama to order the Secretary of the Treasury to change the current portrait portrayed on our American $20 bank note to reflect the remarkable accomplishments of an exemplary American woman who has helped shape our Nation's great history; and

     WHEREAS, the long struggle for Suffrage Rights by so many American women did result in the ratification of the 19^th Amendment in 1920 and that in 2020 we shall celebrate the Centennial of this landmark in our history, it follows that that women should be honored with representation and memorialization on our nation's bank notes; and specifically the $20 bank note as part of the commemoration of this Centennial; and

     WHEREAS, Women On 20s, a 501c3 corporation, conducted a five (5) week long Primary Round asking the public to vote for 3 of 15 candidates, consisting of: Alice Paul, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Rachel Carson, Rosa Parks, Barbara Jordan, Margaret Sanger, Patsy Mink, Clara Barton, Harriet Tubman, Frances Perkins, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt and Elizabeth Cady Stanton; and 

     WHEREAS, After 256,659 voters cast their ballots during the Primary, Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks each amassed over 100,000 votes and therefore qualify to be considered in a petition on their own; and

     WHEREAS, Women On 20s received an outpouring of persuasive requests to include and honor a Native American, and in consideration that Chief Wilma Mankiller had previously been elected to the top 30 candidates in a caucus phase, she was added to the Final Ballot Round with the three top candidates from the Primary Round; and

     WHEREAS, The Finalists amassed a combined total of over 350,000 votes during a second five (5) week round of voting, while the campaign was reported across the country daily in all media outlets and around the world throughout the 10 week campaign; and

     WHEREAS, Finalist Harriet Tubman (c.1822-1913), born a slave, fled to the North for freedom, yet braved 19 trips back to the South as the conductor of the Underground Railroad, guiding some 300 slaves to freedom; in addition, she served the Union army during the Civil War as a nurse, scout and spy; she also was active in the women's suffrage movement after the war; moreover she garnered more votes than any of the other Finalists, over 118,000 votes and more than 30% of the vote; and

     WHEREAS, The Women On 20s campaign has fostered a renewed spirit of hope and expression for greater equality truer to our Nation’s values, voters embraced this opportunity, and further embraced Harriet Tubman and all of the candidates; and

     Women On 20s, therefore under the authority of trust given to it by its supporters, presents herein its endorsement and verification of the campaign results honoring Harriet Tubman with the auspicious designation as the winner of this historic campaign
